Put your hands on your hips

So we’re listening to the radio and they are talking about Governor Brown closing state parks in California to save money. And the DJ says, I’m not even kidding “I understand we need to save money, but I hate that the kids have to suffer.”
Dude. Haven’t we been cutting the public education budget for years? I understand that kids will be sad — and big kids too — about the closure of the state parks. But I think the kids are suffering more due to overcrowded classrooms and the like.
I wish I knew the radio station — one of my five presets — but that doesn’t help much. Then again, what do I know?
The cloudy days we get in May in San Diego make me want to curl up and stay in bed. So this outfit was a version of staying in bed. Comfortable. Warm.
Due to my random rules about boots, this was one of the first times that I’ve worn them to the office. Boot rules include: must always be worn over pants. Must be worn with pants that are slenderizing. Skirts worn with boots must be in a similar color scheme, so as to not cut your legs off to nothing.
I never realized I was iffy about boots until I bought these, loved them, but then realized I had so many rules because I just felt short all the time.
Thing is, I love being short, so I shouldn’t worry if something makes me look short.
So I definitely took other pictures of me besides ones where my hands were on my hips in some capacity — but that’s all that turned out on this cloudy day.

You are so nice! I think I look silly most of the time but I have fun with it. Confidence goes a long way too maybe.
I agree with some of your rules about boots. They do make shorties like us look even shorter and I don’t like that. Wearing them with slenderizing pants is a great idea. Love the ones you’re wearing in those pictures – so cute and the whole outfit looks awfully comfy.

but it is funny the “rules” we put on ourselves with certain clothes/shoes. i just try to break those self imposed rules as often as possible to expand my comfort zone.

Love the boots! And seriously cannot get enough of leggings. It’s all I wear anymore. They’re too comfortable to trade out for jeans!

I love boots and wear them all the time through the fall and winter – and I never considered they made me look short. I’m only 5’2″ myself…and I have to say, you don’t look short at all! I have a harder time pulling them out to wear during the spring and summer months, even when the days are cold, dreary and gray, for what it’s worth.
And I can’t stand listening to DJs of music stations talk. It makes my brain hurt. Yesterday, I actually overheard one joking that he was sympathetic to some guy who’d shot his girlfriend multiple times, because she was obviously over-shopping and anyone could understand how annoying that is. I couldn’t change the station’s dial to NPR fast enough. I think my head was about to explode.
I LOVE that cardigan. I checked ann taylors website and they don’t have it any more. did you get it a long time ago? It’s super cute.

I always knocked on leggings… until I got some. I loooove to wear them. I don’t wear them out, because that would be cruel to people around me, but I wear them at home, on the weekends, to bed, and to the gym.
