In Pursuit of Pretty Things Anthro event

in pursuit of pretty things event

This week I went to to a event at Anthropologie, hosted by Kathryn and Carol from In Pursuit of Pretty Things. These two have an enviable friendship — friends since grade school, they still live close by each other (Kathryn in Orange County, Carol in San Diego), and they both adore shopping.

I hope they do more meetups because it was just lovely being surrounded by women who loved shopping and style and could talk about it for hours with no stopping. And everyone was so genuine. It was refreshing to be with woman who weren’t all about promoting their blog (I was the only one who whipped out business cards… and I quickly put them away)!

We all shopped and then hit the dressing room. There were lots of fun moments. Great critiques. I loved that these women I had never met didn’t hesitate to say “hmm, that’s not working for you.”

This dress worked for everyone.

These women knew their Anthro too. They could quote the website like nobody’s business. I loved it.

In honor of Carol and Kathryn, I tried to take dressing room shots. Don’t laugh at me. Carol’s tip was to smile! And to look into the camera lens from the mirror. So next time, I’ll make sure to do just that.

This dress? It was beautiful online. The type of dress that you just freak out when you put it on because you are passionately in love. It’s called the Sugared Dress and I’ll post a real picture soon.

Sasha saw me trying it on and she fell in love. So we became dress twins. The picture is horrible because we asked some random guy to take the picture. So awkward explaining a DSLR to a random guy in the store. Why did we do that? Because I was in love with the dress.

Some link love for the ladies I met.

Carol and Kathryn are beautiful.

Kelly, from Alterations Needed, is cute, petite and sweet.

Maya, from Kinzie Says, made me smile and was so smart. Loved meeting her. She makes me want to dress more bohemian.

Michelle from Quest for Fashion Sense and Midory from Shopping for Two are doing the 30 for 30 challenge, so wish them luck. And Clara, the other half of the Shopping for Two equation is doing a project to utilize items in her closet for the next month. I need to do that.

Christine from Anthro Girl on a Budget, was super sweet. She was wearing a skirt with a watermelon pattern, so perfect for summer.

I sat next to Megan from A Passing Fancy and I hope we can be friends. She drove all the way from Arizona! So nice.

Some girls didn’t have blogs, and I hope we can be email buddies too.
