The perfect swimsuit
By · Jun 10 2011I know, I know, that’s a lofty claim, but I’ve found it. It is the perfect price, and it does wonders for the body. I saw it when I went to Target for notebook paper and couldn’t stop thinking about it. So I did what any mature woman would do, I bought two sizes and tried them on at home (in full underwear, mind you). Then I returned the smallest size.
The Assets brand is by Spanx, but it is their cheaper brand. The Spanx swimsuits are all in the triple-digits, but their Assets line is around $50, much more reasonable. I look sucked in, but there aren’t any weird cut-offs on the butt-cheeks or straps. And the ruching is definitely your friend. My waist looks amazing in this suit, and I really don’t have a waist.

I was nervous about the push-up bra, since I don’t generally try to add ooph to my upper top, but let’s just say I look voluptuous.
You are probably a size bigger than normal in this suit — but you will look a size smaller. Does that make sense? I bought a small and medium to try on, and I couldn’t get the small past my legs. The medium felt perfect though.
My only complaint is that they don’t have it in other colors. Though black is always perfect and timeless. I wish that there was a better picture, because you aren’t going to believe me. Hopefully this summer I’ll have a reason to go to the beach and snap a picture for you.

Life is scattered, like bobby pins in your bathroom drawer, no? Dance backwards in high heels with me. Let's talk clothes and news. I *love* clothes and news.

Nice swimsuit!

I love Target swimsuits. Before I left for DR, I found the CUTEST tankini, but I couldn’t find a size small in the top at two different Target stores. At the second Target store, I asked them to check the computer for the nearest Target that had a small and there were no size smalls in the ENTIRE DC METROPOLITAN AREA. To me, that can only confirm that Target bathing suits rock! Too bad that also meant that I didn’t get my new suit for DR!

I need this swimsuit! I’m going to Italy in a couple weeks and will probably visit the beach a time or two. I will probably go to Target after work to look for it. But I did have a couple questions.
Are you willing to share what sizes you normally wear? I wear mostly size 6 stuff, but occasionally need to go up to 8 depending on the maker. And medium tops usually are good.
Are these by the Assets in the hosiery section or in the swim suit section? Can you try them on in the store?
It’s silly how excited I am about trying this swimsuit.
I’m usually a small or extra small, but in this suit I am a medium — and it still fits snug! So definitely be willing to go up a size. I think they’ll let you try on in store, with your underwear of course.
They were mixed into the rest of the swimsuits. There was an Assets swim display too, but I found the other sizes mixed in. So don’t give up!
My Target was low on stock, and they didn’t have it online, so that’s why I posted the link to this site.
Good luck!!!
Thanks. I was thinking it might be kind of hard to find one, so I was also mentally preparing for maybe having to order online.

Just in case any of your readers are interested in this suit, I wanted to share my experience. My Target had a couple in stock, so I grabbed a medium and a large. I put the large one on first, and it fit really great through the torso. I was pumped. But the chest area was loose and there was some fabric on the sides that kind of stuck out by my armpit. It seemed like maybe it was stretched out somehow. So I tried the medium, thinking maybe, but I couldn’t even pull it up over my thighs. I even tried a 2nd large, hoping the first was just a fluke, but unfortunately, the large is made for VERY AMPLE chests.
But, fortunately, the style is pretty popular right now, and I found several similar suits at a couple other department stores, and ended up buying one at Kohl’s.
So even though the Assets suit didn’t work for me, I am happy you posted it since the style is super flattering and I did end up with something I love! Thanks again!!

Cute suit! I just can’t do a one piece, they never seem to fit right! Plus I like that I can buy different sizes with two pieces! Still looks like a great suit though!
Love the price and love that it sucks you in for half the price! Although you’re right — need colors

This is such a cute suit! I love the push-up bra part and the ruches along the body – it’s very sexy girl!!
I totally bought this suit for my honeymoon. I was doing 2-pieces for awhile, but I’m just not feeling it right now. This suit is cute and not matronly, and I know i’ll be able to walk around in Hawaii and feel comfortable in my skin. And I love the push up, all other suits flatten my chest to no end. So, thank you!
