I still get dressed

By · Oct 11 2011

Let it be written, the lack of outfit posts doesn’t mean that I’ve given up on life. Instead I feel like I am living it.

In the past two months of not working, I’ve only completely stayed un-showered and un-maintained twice. And one of those days it was because I got into a total groove while writing a paper. So that really doesn’t count as a failure. I’m pretty sure I sprayed on some perfume before the husband got home.

I am loving being more casual. And playing with accessories and dressing up jeans. My go to look has been jeans and blazer — I have so many blazers it is a little unreal.

The issue with the photos is that I don’t get dressed for the day until I need to leave the house, and by then the sun is bright and horrible for pictures. So most days they are a no-go.

But on this day, I was wearing an outfit inspired by this fancier version that I posted. So many people commented saying it was their favorite so I wanted to recreate a casual version.

My hair is lightening to a pretty shade but I need to buy a color-saving shampoo. Reccommend anything good? I use Biolage right now, but I’m reading that sulphates and parabens just strip the color right off. Will someone tell me why we put this stuff in our shampoo if it takes the color out?

I had to stop using shampoo with sulfates a few years ago because they irritate my scalp. Anyways, I’ve tried Pureology (massive waste of money), Kenra Platinum (works great, but way more than I can afford), and the Loreal EverPure line. The Loreal stuff is available at the grocery store and is maybe $6 a bottle, which lasts forever. I love it, it’s cheap and my color is lasting forever (thankfully since I don’t feel comfortable dying my hair in pregnancy).

I’m just like you, don’t get dressed until I need to leave. Sometimes that might be 2 or 3 in the day! LOVE this outfit. It’s a great casual look but still pulled together. That orange blazer is super cute :)

LOVE LOVE LOVE this outfit. I’m embarrassed to admit that I just put clothes on without showering… I’ve got to run some errands this morning before traffic is crazy. Primping will come at around 1.

PS Orange is my favorite color

Oh– I used to use Biolage as well… but it left my color brassy. Last time I got my hair done I fell into temptation and bought what my colorist recommended. It’s Redken, and totally working. The one I have it blonde glam or something, but I know they have it for other shades as well.

EverSleek is great — sulphate-free. There is also Ever Strong and Ever Pure.

  6. This is one of my favorite outfits to date! As for shampoo recs, I use Herbal Essences Color Me Happy and have been pleased with the results, but I don’t know how that compares with others. (And, I typically use two or three different shampoos and alternate based on the day…is that weird?)

I adore this outfit! It’s so well put together. And I’m the same way, I don’t get dressed until I have to go out.

I’m with you. Comfy until I need to go out. Love that orange jacket. I think I was with you when you found it, right?

I love this outfit. Orange used to be on my bad list but I’m finding myself wearing it more and more – especially for fall.

Your hair color looks great. L’oreal has a sulfate free shampoo I use and it’s cheaper than salon stuff – I think I got mine for 6.99 at Target?

    Natalie,
I really love this outfit especially because of the orange jacket. Super cute. You should try the TIGI product, they have them for redheads, brunettes, and blonds to hold color. Miss seeing you in 8th ward… Definitely not the same in our new ward.

Girl. Get some pureology- best shampoo ever. Keeps the color in my hair like NOTHING else- my stylist said there are only two shampoos that really don’t strip the color from your hair (even though they all say color saving)- and pureology is one of them.
    You look great!

  15. Andrea says:

Sulfates are the devil. They are used in lab experiments to irritate skin. And they’re in everything, including toothpaste, which makes no sense but there you are.

Anyway, I haven’t used “real” shampoo for over a year now. For a while I just used conditioner– any conditioner without “cones” (anything ending in “cone” like dimethicone or silicone) can be used as shampoo. Just scrub it into your roots and rinse. Now I use a castile soap shampoo bar. It doesn’t strip color or moisture, it’s biodegradable, and it gets my hair nice and clean. I love it. I still use conditioner too, but just on the ends.
